This Thursday, the Air Transat Component of CUPE launched a campaign targeting the Federal Government and the Canadian public, to demand more concrete actions to save airline jobs. Last March, flight attendants were there to repatriate Canadians stuck overseas. They were also the first Canadian workers affected by the COVID crisis, as the virus was coming into the country through airports. Considering the impact of this crisis on the airlines sector, it looks like flight attendants will be among the workers most affected by the COVID pandemic.
CUPE members are invited to watch and share this first vignette produced at the initiative of the Component Executive Committee with the support of CUPE. It is the first step of a campaign that could make an important difference.
Now that Canadians are returning to work, we ask the Canadian Government to ensure that flight attendants are not left behind.
