On July 25th, the City of Bathurst has put its 22 inside workers on « lockout ». The Mayor, Paolo Fongemie, has thus forced workers to go home without pay, preventing them from delivering services to citizens and businesses of Bathurst. This is the first time the City has used this kind of heavy-handed tactic in over 35 years. Workers want a contract with wage adjustments that go above, not below, the cost of living.
