Dear Premier,
The Sodexo deal must be stopped. The government of New Brunswick must not go ahead with the privatization of Food Services, Housekeeping Services and Portering Services in healthcare establishments. I do not want Sodexo or any other multinational company to manage these services.
I want to keep these services in-house, not privatized.
There is nothing close to a consensus on this when you have opposition from workers, health professionals, community groups and even the Board of Directors and CEO of Vitalité Health Network. Stakeholders have repeatedly said in-house options are superior and come at a better price.
We should focus on in-house strategies to raise quality of food and overall cleanliness of our institutions. Preventing outbreaks of hospital-borne infection means we need to reinvest wisely instead of privatizing and cutting.
