Petition body
I am writing today to express my concerns about the work stoppage at the Halifax Regional Water Commission. It’s no wonder my water rates are increasing when Halifax Water GM Carl Yates is making over $256,000 a year. That’s more than all of the big city mayors across Canada. I believe that these workers work hard every day on the frontline to ensure our city has a clean harbour, potable drinking water and the many other water and wastewater services across our municipality. Halifax Water itself often brags about the quality of its water and its services. As a voting member of the Board of Commissioners, I urge you to tell the Halifax Water negotiators to get back to the bargaining table and to treat their frontline workers with the fairness and the respect they deserve. I look forward to your response.
