Canadas broadcast regulator has approved the sale of Québecs Radiomédia network to Corus, a move which CUPE believes will seal its fate.

The Corus group has plans to scale back the network, by closing local newsrooms and distributing news among member stations.

This is a major loss for the health of our democracy and Québec society, said local 2829 president Jules Bordeleau.

The sale will mean a serious concentration of media ownership in Montréal. Where before there were three major players, now there will be only two.
