TORONTO There is no time to waste in improving access to child care in Ontario, advocates will tell the new Liberal government on the eve of Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day.

Dalton McGuinty wants to be known as the education Premier, said CUPE Ontario President Sid Ryan. He can start right now with early childhood education. Theres no need to delay because the plans already exist.

Ryan will be joined at a news conference at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 4 in the Queens Park media studio by representatives of the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care (OCBCC) and other child care advocates.

November 5 is the 3rd annual Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day to be celebrated in the province. Founded by CUPE Ontario and the OCBCC, sponsors now include the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, Canadian Auto Workers, National Union of Provincial Government Employees, Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario, and Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation.
