CUPE 2419, which represents academic assistants at the University of Regina, has ratified a new collective agreement with the university.
The agreement includes wage increases of 4% in 2026, 3% in 2027, 3% in 2028, and 2% in 2029.
The agreement also includes a Letter of Understanding addressing artificial intelligence (AI) and technological change, recognizing the importance of addressing emerging technologies in the workplace. The bargaining committee also secured several positive improvements to collective agreement language without making concessions.
“At a time of economic uncertainty in the post-secondary sector, this agreement represents a positive outcome for our members,” said Muhammed Khosravani, CUPE 2419 president. “We were able to secure meaningful wage increases while also securing protections against AI and technological change into the future.”
Both parties voted in favour of the new collective agreement on October 6.
CUPE 2419 represents academic assistants, teaching fellows, teaching assistants (TA1), and research assistants enrolled as graduate or undergraduate students at the University of Regina.
