A new collective agreement has been signed for 535 croupiers at the Casino de Montréal, members of CUPE. The six-year agreement officially signed this Monday afternoon runs from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2032. The agreement had previously been ratified at a general union meeting held on July 2, with 94.5% of members voting in favour.
The union negotiated wage increases of 3% per year for the six-year contract, except for the fifth year when the increase will be 2.5%.
This agreement is the result of sustained efforts over a period of roughly two and a half months, during wich the union held 20 bargaining preparation meetings and 20 bargaining sessions. “The dedication of the bargaining committee members and the union executive allowed us to achieve a result that we are very satisfied with,” said Daniel Ménard, president of the Syndicat des croupiers et croupières de Montréal, CUPE 3939.
Among other gains, the union was able to solidify the break system by codifying it in the collective agreement. This system was at the root of a 14-week strike in 2022. The union was also able to reinforce its position relating to poker, a strategic sector to help maintain and develop offerings at the Casino de Montréal in this competitive market. These improvements were made possible by the sustained hard work undertaken to identify paths to efficiency and to optimize profitability, to the benefit of both members and the organization. The union also achieved important updates to several clauses of the collective agreement.

This result shows once again the power of our solidarity and the importance of working together to improve working conditions for all the croupiers at the Casino de Montréal,” concluded Daniel Ménard.
