Not a single worker has received any guarantee that their job, benefits, and salaries will be protected by the new food-service provider change. In the past, staff has never received layoff notices during contract changes. Those were seamless transitions as employees and their rights would be carried over to the new providers. Many workers have been working for 30 to 40 years at the Fredericton Campus, and they are stressed, worried about the future, and feel like management is abandoning them.
It’s unacceptable that employees that are an integral part of UNB, who worked diligently for the UNB staff and students, are treated like this by UNB.
