Quebecor, Sun Media, Canoe and journalist Hubert Lapointe were in court
last week to plead ‘not guilty’ to violating a ban on publishing the
name of a sexual assault victim.

Lapointe
- who, along with 16 others, is the subject of a complaint brought
against the media corporation under Québec’s anti-scab law - authored
the article on Quebecor’s internet portal Canoe, in July.

The
article - which was also reproduced in the strike-bound newspaper -
covered the conviction and sentencing of a Valcartier-based soldier for
sexual assault.  But the article named the assault victim, in violation
of a publication ban.

The woman - who learned she had been identified when she came in to work - filed the complaint with the crown.
