Manitoba Premier Gary Doer praised CUPE yesterday for taking a leadership
role on social issues.

“CUPE is making a difference on improving public services for Canadians,
and we look forward to working more with you,” he said, congratulating the
union’s push for a national child care program and our fight against water privatization.

Doer also called on the federal government to fund national programs such
as workplace safety and access to low-cost prescription drugs that benefit
working people. Manitobans already enjoy such benefits.
