A tentative settlement on a new collective agreement for workers at Woodstock Public Library was reached Wednesday night, averting the strike scheduled for midnight tonight.

Teams negotiating for Local 1146 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and the library board agreed the deal.

The union will not disclose details of the tentative settlement until the 31 Woodstock library workers have had the opportunity to review its contents and vote on the agreement.

The vote will be held today (Thursday) at 5 p.m.
