Workers with the City of Thunder Bay to rally for a fair deal on Monday

Members of Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 87, who work for the City of Thunder Bay, will hold a rally on Monday in advance of City Council meeting.

“Our members are sending a clear message to City Council that we need a willing partner to get a fair deal,” said Karen Martin, president of Local 87. “It’s been nearly two years since our contract expired. It’s time to focus on negotiating a settlement.”

CUPE Local 87 represents over 700 inside and outside workers with the City of Thunder Bay. The local has a strike deadline of November 1st at 12:01 a.m., and mediated talks are currently scheduled for October 31st.
