This workshop covers:
• Who is CUPE
• CUPE’s history
• The CUPE Structure and services offered to local unions
• CUPE’s role in the labour movement
• The values of CUPE and the labour movement
• The roles and responsibilities of CUPE local unions elected officials

The objective:
CUPE wants to do this workshop to provide an overview of its role and its values. CUPE is a community of activists who work hard to improve the lives of workers, their families and their communities

At the end of this workshop, participants will…
Know (information)
• The responsibilities of the local union’ elected officials
• CUPE’s history
• The values of the union and the labour movement
• The CUPE structure
Feel (attitude)
• Confident to work as a team with the local union executive
• A sense of belonging within the labour movement and CUPE
• Contribute to the well being of fellow workers
Be able to (skill)
• Represent members to the full extent of their duties
• Engage members in the union including members of equity seeking groups
• Perform duties and make decisions in the best interest of the local union’s members
