Mike Tobin was appointed Regional Vice-President representing Newfoundland and Labrador on the National Executive Board in February 2024.
Mike is a food service worker in long-term care, and the president of CUPE 879. Starting out as a shop steward shortly after being hired in 2006, Mike then served as treasurer and now as president of his local.
Mike is also involved in the broader labour movement. He currently serves as vice-president for CUPE NL. Before becoming vice-president, he served 2 terms as secretary treasurer, one term as executive member, and one term as trustee. He also served on CUPE’s National Contracting Out and Privatization Coordinating Committee, and as a CUPE member facilitator.
