18,000 Manitoba health care support workers have reached a tentative agreement in the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, Shared Health, Southern Health Santé Sud, and Northern Regional Health Authority.
“We are pleased that we have been able to reach an agreement that we can present to our members, and we believe the tentative agreement is fair and reasonable,” said Shannon McAteer, CUPE Health Care Coordinator.
“The tentative agreement will see improvements for health care support workers over the next four years including general wage increases, market adjustments, and numerous improvements to contract language”.
The tentative agreement comes after only four months of negotiations, compared to twenty-one months under the previous government.
The previous collective agreement expired March 31, 2024.
“These negotiations are led by front-line health workers who dedicate themselves to serving the community as well as their co-workers,” added Gina McKay, President of CUPE Manitoba. “The bargaining team worked incredibly hard to achieve this tentative agreement”.
Details on the tentative agreement will be shared with CUPE members at information sessions over the coming weeks.
CUPE health care members will vote on the tentative agreement between August 20 and 22.
