A potential lockout of road workers in Grey County has been averted, following a day of mediation between Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1530 and the County. A tentative settlement was reached on Monday, November 5th. No details will be released until Local 1530’s membership has had the opportunity to review the settlement and conduct a ratification vote. The deal must also be ratified by the County.
Local 1530 represents roughly 60 full-time and part-time or seasonal road workers, who do everything from snow plowing, bridge maintenance, road repair, ditch digging, and much more.
