Produced by CUPE and Point Blank Creative as part of the campaign to keep the Victoria CRD’s water public, FecalCORP is a lighter look at the serious issue of privatization of public services.

But really, water and waste privatization is no laughing matter.

Private corporations want to get in on more than $30 billion worth of public water and wastewater projects up for grabs in Canada.

Through public private partnerships (P3s) – corporations want to design and build and operate these important public services. P3s take control and economic benefits away from local communities.

Public private partnerships cost taxpayers more than public operation, and they don’t really transfer risk away from governments. Just take a look at the City of Hamilton’s experience with a sewage privatization boondoggle.
