Amber Leonard is a respected labour leader and advocate for public education, serving as the president of CUPE 459, representing support staff across the Sooke School District. Known for her clear voice, strategic leadership, and unwavering commitment to workers, Amber has become a prominent figure in the K-12 sector in British Columbia.

In addition to leading CUPE 459, Amber serves as president of the CUPE Vancouver Island District Council, where she works to strengthen regional solidarity, coordinate campaigns, and support locals across the Island. Her leadership extends provincially as a general vice-president of CUPE BC, where she contributes to province-wide policy, advocacy, and member engagement initiatives.

At the national level, Amber serves on the CUPE National Contracting Out & Privatization Coordinating Committee, where she advocates for strong public services and fights against privatization pressures that threaten workers, communities, and the integrity of public education. She also contributes to the financial stewardship and accountability of the union as a CUPE National Trustee.

Across all her roles, Amber is recognized for her collaborative approach, her deep respect for front-line workers, and her ability to bring people together around shared goals. She is a passionate defender of public education, a strong voice for support staff, and a dedicated advocate for fairness, equity, and dignity in the workplace.
