Paul Moist, national president of CUPE, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Stephen Harper urging his government to reverse the closure of Veterans Affairs offices.

The letter states:

“Veterans have been clear on what they want. They believe transferring veteran services to Service Canada offices will not adequately fulfill their needs. They believe nine veteran affairs staff cannot possibly deliver the same level of service as the 90 who have staffed VAC offices – who were already overworked and under-resourced.

We owe our veterans no less than to listen and act on these concerns.”

Moist also condemned the inappropriate conduct of Veterans Affairs Minster Julian Fantino in dealing with the closures, and his disrespectful treatment of veterans.

CUPE is urging all members to support the Public Service Alliance of Canada campaign to protect veteran services.

Tell Stephen Harper you want fair treatment for veterans
