On Labour Day, workers come together to celebrate the victories of the labour movement and the solidarity that is our strength.
Over the past year, CUPE members have proven that together we can win higher wages and better working conditions.
Our victories have come in the face of continued pressure on public services, collective bargaining rights and the ability of workers to stand up for themselves. These pressures are worsened by Donald Trump’s attacks on Canadian sovereignty, creating more uncertainty for workers and their families across the country.
As these challenges grow, workers must have a voice at the table. Decisions that shape our workplaces, our communities and our country cannot be left to those who put profit ahead of people. It will take all of us standing together to fight for good jobs, strong public services and an economy that works for all.
A strong Canada is built by workers.
On behalf of CUPE’s 800,000 members, we wish you a Happy Labour Day.
Thank you to every worker, every retiree and every union activist who stands up for our co-workers, our neighbours, our public services and our communities.
None of us wins alone, but together we are unstoppable.
Solidarity!
