This Labour Day, CUPE will be participating in events in communities across Canada, celebrating our accomplishments and showing Canadians how proud we are of our work.
- Check out the Canadian Labour Congress’ list to find out where you can join CUPE in your community on Labour Day and contact your district labour council for details on their event.
Labour Day is more than just a great day to get together with friends and family. It is also a day to celebrate the important contributions we have made as a movement to our economy and to our communities. The work that CUPE members do makes our communities strong. The public services CUPE members provide are the backbone of their communities.
Alongside Canada’s other unions, CUPE has fought for results that benefit all workers and their families: decent wages and safer workplaces, pension and retirement benefits, parental leave, crucial health and safety laws, and so much more. And we keep fighting. We are campaigning to build a national childcare program and to strengthen our public health care system. We are fighting for significant improvements to the Canada Pension Plan which will help every Canadian when they retire – regardless of whether they are a union member or not. Every gain makes life better - for everyone.
