CORNER BROOK, NL – CUPE NL President Wayne Lucas will be in Corner Brook Tuesday, October 6 talking to CUPE locals and members about the importance of voting in the federal election.
Says Lucas, “Canadians are just one election away from badly-needed change in Ottawa.
“CUPE is supporting Thomas Mulcair and the NDP because they are the party that will finally deliver on affordable childcare, a sustainable economy with better jobs, a stronger healthcare system, and retirement security for every Canadian by expanding the Canada Pension Plan.”
Lucas says the union is urging its 6,200 members here in Newfoundland and Labrador to cast their ballots on October 19.
“Our message to CUPE members is that your vote really matters. Ironically, 6,200 is exactly the number of votes that made the difference in electing a Conservative majority in 2011,” says Lucas.
