Have Your Say Manitoba provincial budget consultationsCiting the real danger of major cuts to education, health care and other frontline services, CUPE Manitoba is encouraging all their members to have their voices heard at public information sessions in the coming weeks.

“This is a government that wants to make cuts,” said Gord Delbridge, President of CUPE Manitoba. “It’s important they hear from Manitoba families that there will be a political cost to them if they make those cuts.”

The information sessions take place as follows:

  • Thursday, October 18th in Winnipeg from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Maple Grove Park Clubhouse, 100 Frobisher Road; and
  • Thursday, October 25th in Winnipeg from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Golden Boy Dining Room (Room 50), Legislative Building, 450 Broadway. This meeting will be fully accessible and bilingual.

CUPE will be at these consultations to push for our top 5 budget priorities:

  • more support workers in health care;
  • funding increases in education above the rate of inflation plus population growth;
  • the provincial government fulfill their election promise to build more personal care home beds;
  • restore and increase funding for municipal priorities;
  • no new privatization.

“We will be there advocating for a progressive agenda,” said Delbridge, “but to be successful, we need to speak together loudly and clearly.
