Greg Watkinson was always interested in the health sciences, but it wasn’t until he was involved in a motorcycle accident that he saw what paramedics do on a day-to-day basis. Watkinson, a CUPE 905 member, is a Primary Care Paramedic in York Region just north of Toronto.

“Being present on the worst day in somebody’s life, and being able to provide that sense of calm,” is Watkinson’s favorite part of the job. “To use my knowledge in order to help them and just make them feel a little bit better on that terrible day.”

To mark Paramedic Services Week 2016, CUPE 905, which represents more than 550 paramedic services employees, has put together a video that showcases York Region paramedics talking about what they love best about their jobs.
