Today, CUPE 5430 is proud to announce the launch of a new campaign calling for the Government of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Health Authority to end their stalling tactics at the bargaining table.
“Our members work tirelessly to ensure that hospital patients, long-term care residents, and home care clients receive the highest quality care,” said Bashir Jalloh, president of CUPE 5430. “As a union we are deeply concerned about the government’s plan to erode our workplace protections, standardize contracts with the worst terms, and make it easier to contract out and privatize health care. These proposed changes threaten to weaken our health care system and make it harder to retain the skilled workers who provide the care that Saskatchewan families rely on.”
The campaign is being kicked off alongside extensive outreach across Saskatchewan, with visits this week to health care facilities in Regina, Maidstone, Gainsborough, Oxbow, Lampman, Foam Lake, Theodore, Lloydminster, Ituna, Preeceville, Big River, Invermay, and the Battlefords.
CUPE 5430 is fighting to protect their members and ensure that they can continue delivering quality care in communities across Saskatchewan. To support this effort, CUPE 5430 has launched an online action tool, inviting the public to join their call for fair bargaining. The tool allows individuals to sign a letter urging the government and the Saskatchewan Health Authority to negotiate in good faith and deliver a fair deal for CUPE health care workers.
