The City of Toronto’s ‘outside’ workers, members of Toronto Civic Employees Union (TCEU), Local 416 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE 416) have ratified a five-year collective agreement.

Ratification took place throughout the day yesterday.

“We always believed that a freely-negotiated deal that was fair to the City and our members, and that protected vital public services to residents, was achievable,” said Eddie Mariconda, President of CUPE 416.

“Our members look forward to continuing to provide the quality services residents depend on and expect for the next five years,” he added.

The agreement negotiated between the parties achieves the objectives set out by CUPE 416, as well as the mandate given by the members to their bargaining committee.

Following today’s ratification of the agreement by Toronto City Council, bargaining has now concluded between CUPE 416 and the City of Toronto.
