Members of CUPE 150 and 157 collected 3,615 pounds of food in a recent drive to support Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold. The unions, which represent outdoor and indoor workers for the City of St. Catharines, rallied together to help combat rising food insecurity in the region.
With demand for food bank services on the rise, CUPE 150 and CUPE 157 members went door-to-door to gather non-perishable items to help Community Care’s efforts to provide essential support to those in need.
“Our members are deeply committed to giving back to their community,” said Rory Bourgeois, president of CUPE 150. “The 3,615 pounds of food collected shows the strength of our solidarity and our shared commitment to helping families facing hard times.”
Jason Trombetta, president of CUPE 157, echoed the sentiment, adding: “We are proud of our members for their work and generosity. By coming together, we can make a real difference for families in St. Catharines.”
Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold provides essential services, including food security and emergency support programs, to individuals and families in need. The contribution from CUPE members will help the organization continue to meet the rising demand for its services in the community.
CUPE 150 and 157 extend their thanks to all members who participated in the food drive. CUPE remains committed to supporting local initiatives that strengthen the community.
