Buying gas at Petro Canada? Dont.

The CLC has endorsed a national consumer boycott of Petro Canada in support of workers in the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union (CEP).

Since April 1, 2001, 470 members of CEP Local 593 have been on strike, fighting for pension parity. The workers at the Mississauga and Oakville refineries and the Oakville terminal want the same pension benefits as other workers at Petro Canada and given the companys huge profits and pension surplus, theyre determined to get them.

The company has resumed operations using scabs, unwilling to negotiate a settlement and trying to set an example for its other employees. A national boycott of their products and services might just help them change their mind
