Persons interested are invited to apply for the bilingual position of Accountant to work from the Accounting Branch of the Finance and Administration Department at National Office located in Ottawa, Ontario. This is a hybrid position that will require regular physical presence in the office. Any expenses traveling between home and the office would be the sole responsibility of the employee.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Under the direction of the Director of Accounting, the successful applicant will be required to perform some or all of the following duties:
- Assist in the preparation of Financial Statements and the necessary analysis of the variances from budget.
- Assist in the analysis of various financial information required for the annual budget.
- Prepare cost analysis and reports as directed.
- Coordinate the compilation of financial information into the General Ledger from the various accounting applications, i.e. Per Capita, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Travel Expenses.
- Assist the Assistant Accountants in the performance of their duties and the use of applicable software programs.
- Oversee the reconciliation and balancing of all the asset and liability accounts in the General Ledger, and any sub-ledgers.
- Maintain a detailed cash flow analysis in order to project funds available for the payment of various expenses and the investing of surplus funds to maximize interest income.

Maintain complete documentation on all the accounting applications currently in use and assist in defining the required training and education to advance and promote the continuing development of accounting staff and more efficient operating procedures.

Other related duties, as assigned.

Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) with a minimum of seven years directly related experience, forecasts/analysis, problem solving, knowledge and ease to work in a highly computerized environment.
- Experience in the preparation of financial statements, reports, budgets, and analysis of revenues and expenses.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills and ability to organize work, initiate tasks and work independently with a high degree of accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines while working in a high-pressure work setting.
- Above average oral and written communication skills in both official languages.
- Applicants should be free to travel and be able to work weekends as required.

WEEKLY SALARY RANGE: $2,507.19 to $2,562.39 (plus 7% bilingual bonus)
