Whitby, Ont. – Whitby municipal workers, represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), reached a tentative agreement with the Town of Whitby this evening.
“We will be recommending this deal to our members,” said Karen Wilson, president of CUPE 53. “We are happy that a strike has been averted, especially on a stormy day when residents in our communities rely on public services to keep our roads safe.”
The tentative agreement will be presented to CUPE 53 members for a ratification vote to be held next week.
