Protect the integrity of the census

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) issued a statement on July 19 urging the federal government to reconsider its decision to cancel the long-form census questionnaire.

The Conservatives’ decision will weaken StatCan in its ability to produce high quality data, through the census long form. The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology will be sitting from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 27.

CUPE members are encouraged to attend the following demonstration.

What: Demonstration to keep the Canada census long form

Where: Parliament Hill, Ottawa

When: Tuesday, July 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
