CUPE Nova Scotia looking forward to receiving more details on proposed convention centre for HRM

HALIFAX, NS - The president of CUPE Nova Scotia, Danny Cavanagh, says his union is looking forward to receiving more details on the proposed convention centre for Halifax Regional Municipality.

“Now that the initial figures are out, we will be requesting much more detailed information from Minister Estabrooks about this proposal, in particular details about how it will be financed,” said Cavanagh.

“We have been quite clear from the outset that the P3 model [Public Private Partnership] of financing would not be the way to go for taxpayers. Now that the minister is saying it won’t be a P3, we are looking forward to finding out how the financing has changed,” continued Cavanagh.

“We also encourage the provincial government to continue to be as open and transparent as possible on this project as they move toward making a final decision.”
