Toronto, Ont. – Members of Local 416 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (TCEU – CUPE Local 416) today voted to ratify a new four-year collective agreement with the City of Toronto. The tentative collective agreement was reached last Friday.

“This was a very difficult round of bargaining,” said Matt Alloway, spokesperson for the Local 416 bargaining committee. “We were successful in beating back most of the harsh cuts the city had tabled, and we believe we have secured the best possible deal for our members under these circumstances.”

There was a very large turnout throughout the day, reflecting the high level of interest and engagement by the local’s members. Alloway confirmed the contract was ratified, but results of the vote will not be released.
