British Columbias largest labour union is applauding the expanded child care plan announced this morning by Premier Ujjal Dosanjh.

Barry ONeill, President of CUPE British Columbia, says the expanded child care program will be a huge help to working people across the province.

The world is changing, says ONeill, and this expanded program recognizes the increasing role that child care is playing in the lives of working families.

Whether its a single parent who needs child care to find work outside the home, or a two-parent family where both parents have jobs that take them away from the home, British Columbians will soon have more affordable daycare options as they plan their lives.

Clearly, theres still a lot more that all levels of government can and should be doing to support working families, says ONeill. But todays announcement will mean a great deal to anyone whos ever been forced to choose between their job and their family.
