TORONTO - CBC Radio’s Metro Morning popular host, Andy Barrie, joined Toronto paramedic Rahul Singh in his amulance to learn about the critical services paramedics provide and why they are engaged in what the paramedics call a “working-the-rules” campaign.
Members of Local 416, Toronto’s 860 paramedics have been “working-the-rules” for the past two weeks to protest moves by Toronto EMS to erode wage progression in their profession. Increasing responsibilities and training in the administration of drugs and care to patients are expected of paramedics, and they are demanding compensation that respects that.
