The twenty or so white and blue-collar employees of the Municipality of L’Ange-Gardien in the Outaouais region signed their new collective agreement on Tuesday. They had been without a contract since December 31, 2018.

The five-year contract calls for salary increases of 1.75% for 2019; 2% plus 0.09% of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in 2020; 2.25% or the CPI in 2021 if the latter exceeds 2.25%; 2% or the CPI in 2022 and 2.25 or the CPI in 2023. A lump sum of $500 will also be paid when the agreement is signed.

The mayor of L’Ange-Gardien, Marc Louis-Seize, was delighted with this fair agreement. “I am very happy that the white- and blue-collar employees have renewed their collective agreement, which preserves the employees’ working conditions while addressing the operational requirements of the municipality. I wish to thank the teams of both parties involved in this process, who did a remarkable job to reach this agreement.”

Negotiations were very productive and respectful. Only four meetings were needed to arrive at an agreement satisfactory to both parties.
