CUPE 2326, the union representing inside workers in Terrebonne, Québec, and the Town of Terrebonne signed a new collective agreement earlier this week. The union represents 375 members – office and library staff, preventionists, technicians, telecommunications attendants and the vast majority of professionals.

At a general meeting on October 3, the six-year tentative agreement, which runs from 2021 to 2027, was approved by 89% of the members in attendance.

The gains include significant wage hikes of between 17.5 and 18%, the establishment of an evaluation plan to create a single salary structure, an increase in premiums and the implementation of a mechanism to ensure progression and promotions in house.

In addition to maintaining previous gains regarding sick leave and the insurance plan, progress was made in the area of vacation packages, seniority bonuses, leave without pay, time off to tend to union business along with training and development.

“We’re pleased with the outcome of these negotiations. Our members deserve fair and satisfactory conditions for the work they do in all divisions. We also salute their patience and support throughout the process, given that the previous collective agreement had expired on December 31, 2021,” explained Stéphanie Bouchard, president of CUPE 2326.
