Moose Jaw city workers provide the public services that make our community run. Members of CUPE 9 are proud of the work we do to help make our community a great place to live.

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking serious concessions that will impact our members’ quality of life. CUPE 9 has a strong strike mandate from our members. We are currently in conciliation and are making little progress on one of the main sticking points: mandatory standby for members.

Forcing workers to be on standby regardless of their family situation puts undue stress on workers who may be single parents, have partners that work night shifts, or are taking care sick family members. The current proposal from the employer means that some workers will be forced to be on standby every other week.

City workers deserve work life balance. Help us to defend good jobs at the City of Moose Jaw by sending an email to Mayor Deb Higgins and City Council.
