PETERBOROUGH Striking food service workers at Trent University will host a barbecue to thank students and faculty for their ongoing support as the strike enters its third week. The barbecue will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, October 27th, at the main gate of Trent University, in Peterborough.

Over 100 cooks, servers, and kitchen maintenance workers, represented by Local 3205 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), will also burn the latest contract offer from Aramark, which offered 20 cents an hour less than the one that started the strike on October 12th. The workers are fighting for improved wages, benefits and a pension plan.
