The looming crisis in affordable child care is the focus of an Ontario-wide campaign being launched next week by CUPE and the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care.

A series of public forums will take place across the province, running through to the end of April. They feature local parents, child care workers and advocates highlighting the issue of affordable child care, and the fate of municipal day cares in particular.

Municipal day cares and the quality, subsidized spaces they provide have been under threat as a result of provincial downloading. Municipalities across the province are now faced with making decisions about continuing to fund these day cares.

The campaign theme is Stepping Up for Child Care.
