CUPE’s event ombuds program All CUPE National events (and most regional events) have an ombuds team on site who are trained to connect with members experiencing harassment or inappropriate behavior during the event. That means that we must address harassment, discrimination, bullying and intimidation when it happens within the union. Support our work The Safer Union Spaces Office is new and we are working collaboratively with divisions, locals, and staff across CUPE to create culture change! Success depends on support at every level of the union. Our history The Safer Union Spaces Office (SUSO) was opened by the CUPE National Executive Board (NEB) in September 2024, to offer confidential aid to women and gender diverse members facing harassment or violence in union spaces.
