‘No to Job Cuts and Slashing of Public Services’ rally on Monday, June 2

Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board workers, represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), will be protesting at the ‘No to Job Cuts and Slashing of Public Services’ rally at local Conservative MPP Todd Smith’s campaign office on Monday, June 2.  The front line workers will protest the provincial Conservative party’s plans to cut 100,000 public sector jobs, including 9,700 non-teaching school board positions.

“The Conservative party plans to crush public services that our children rely on in our schools,” said Lee Ann Evans, president of CUPE 1022. “Our members are dedicated front line workers who make our schools safe and clean, help children arrive safely at school, and provide much needed care and services to special needs students. How can they slash these vital services that our students and community rely on?”
