Janice Murphy, Research Consultant and contributor to CUPE’s 2009 report on residential long-term care, has collected new data that shows how access to residential long-term care is two-tiered in Canada.

With this report, Dr. Murphy updates the data on facility fees and minimum allowances that were originally published in the CUPE report, and presents new data on the proportion of residents left with an inadequate income to cover expenses above facility fees. For an explanation of how this data shows unequal access to residential long-term care, see Part 2 of CUPE’s report.
