There will be $3 billion more for infrastructure after yesterdays budget but less value for money.

The federal government announced the creation of a new Strategic Infrastructure Foundation, an arms-length body with a meagre $2 billion for infrastructure projects that will give special consideration to P3s. The program covers roads and bridges, water and sewer systems, convention centres and cultural centres.

The foundation is likely to increase corporate influence over federal infrastructure funding, with private sector leaders playing a direct role in defining the criteria for eligibility.

The budget also promises additional funding for greening communities through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
