Members of CUPE 4582, which represents the support employees and technicians at AMF, voted 94% in favour of pressure tactics up to and including a strike.

“This important organization mandated by the Government of Quebec to oversee Quebec’s financial sector lacks respect for its employees. Clearly, the approximately 180 workers want to stand up and strongly condemn the imposition without bargaining of clauses affecting remote work and flexible hours,” said CUPE 4582 representative Dominic Morin.

The union regrets that management chooses to manage staff without taking into account their current working conditions and without consultations. The pandemic has taught us that there are other ways to adjust work schedules, and we must build on these new foundations to improve staff retention.

“Given the volatility of financial markets, the AMF has a key role to play. Unfortunately, we are dealing with archaic management styles. As in all sectors, we are facing challenges due to labour shortages. At the very least, they need to talk to workers’ representatives and find solutions,” concluded Morin.
