TORONTO Striking workers at the U of T Bookstore will be joined for their weekly rally tomorrow, Wednesday July 19, by a number of speakers. They include:

* Wayne Samuelson, President of the Ontario Federation of Labour;

* Hassan Yussuff, Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC);

* Carolyn Egan, Executive Board, Toronto and York Region District Labour Council;

* Jane Doe, well-known community activist.

This weeks rally is being sponsored by several other CUPE locals who represent workers at the University of Toronto.

(ASSIGNMENT/PHOTO EDITORS: The rally will be held in front of Simcoe Hall, 10 Kings College Circle, and begins at noon, Wednesday July 19.)

The 80 bookstore employees went on strike June 7 for a first contract and fair wages. The members of CUPE Local 3261 work as cashiers and sales staff at the U of T Bookstore.

While the U of T Bookstore is a separate corporation (U of T Press), its entire Board of Directors is appointed by the university.
