CUPE is proud to join labour and public health care advocates for the Canadian Health Coalition’s SOS Medicare 3.0 conference in Ottawa, February 24-25, 2025. Registration is free and simultaneous interpretation will be provided.

Canada’s public health care is under greater pressure than ever from politicians and CEOs pushing for privatization. With a federal election expected soon, CUPE members are taking action against governments that direct public money into for-profit clinics and services, in violation of the Canada Health Act.

This historic conference will hear from frontline health care workers, elected officials and experts. The Canadian Labour Congress will provide political action training to get ready to fight for public health care in the federal election.

Featured speakers include:

  • Jason MacLean, Chair of Canadian Health Coalition
  • Siobhán Vipond, Vice-President, Canadian Labour Congress
  • Linda Silas, President, Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions
  • Mark Holland, Canada’s Minister of Health
  • Jagmeet Singh, Leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada
  • Uzoma Asagwara, Manitoba’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Seniors and Long-term Care

CUPE is co-sponsoring the conference with the Canadian Health Coalition, Canadian Labour Congress, Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions (CFNU), the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE), and Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC).
