CUPE joins five other unions calling on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to reinstate funding to the main aid agency for Palestinian refugees in Gaza and throughout the region.
In a joint letter, the unions urge the Canadian government to reverse its decision to suspend funding to UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.
UNRWA has supported Palestinian refugees for over 70 years. It is cruel for large donor countries to cut funding to UNRWA during the catastrophic humanitarian crisis caused by the Israeli military assault on Gaza. The lives and safety of millions of Palestinians are at stake.
