CUPE National President Mark Hancock and the federal MP for Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie, Alexandre Boulerice, will be taking part in a press conference on January 31 in Ottawa to demand immediate passage of anti-scab legislation for companies under federal jurisdiction.

The event will be preceded by a demonstration on Parliament Hill, which will bring together CUPE members, community, union allies, and NDP MPs. It will also be attended by members of CUPE 2614, Quebec Port, who have been locked out since September 2022, and CUPE 2815, Videotron West Quebec, who had to deal with scabs during a lockout that took place 20 years ago.

CUPE is Canada’s largest union, with 715,000 members across the country. CUPE represents workers in who work in health care, emergency services, education, early learning and child care, municipalities, social services, libraries, utilities, transportation, airlines and more. We have 68 offices across the country, in every province.
